CHP Investigates Fatal Crash on McKinley and Westlawn Avenues in Fresno

Fresno, CA (May 15, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash on McKinley and Westlawn Avenues claimed two lives and injured two others Thursday night. 

The crash occurred at 9:06 p.m. at the intersection of McKinley and Westlawn Avenues.

Sgt. Bianchi reported that a Honda Civic was heading north on Westlawn Avenue when its driver ran a stop sign and was broadsided by a Chevrolet truck traveling west on McKinley Avenue. 

The impact fatally injured the right front passenger in the Civic, a 20-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders transported the 22-year-old driver of the Civic to a local hospital with major injuries. 

CHP later confirmed that he died at the hospital early Friday morning.

Inside the truck, a 70-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate, according to CHP.

The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the crash, and it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.
