2 Dead in Red Bluff Traffic Crash on Interstate 5 near Red Bluff Rest Area

RED BLUFF, CA (February 5, 2025) – Sunday afternoon, a brutal auto accident on Interstate 5 and Red Bluff Rest Area killed 2 people.

The incident happened at 4:15 p.m. on Interstate 5 and Red Bluff Rest Area. 

A 63-year-old Cottonwood woman and her passenger died after their vehicle rolled multiple times on I-5, just north of the Red Bluff Rest Area, according to CHP.

Officials say the woman was driving a 2007 Ford Escape northbound when she lost control, veering off the roadway onto the east shoulder. The SUV rolled several times, ejecting both occupants.

No other vehicles were involved. At the time of the crash, weather conditions were cloudy and rainy.

CHP is investigating. Officer W. Wunderlich (#20158) is handling the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Red Bluff CHP Office at 530-737-6746.

Authorities are withholding the victims’ identities until their families are notified.
