2 Dead in Willows Auto Accident on Interstate 5 and County Road 68

WILLOWS, CA (January 2, 2025) – Tuesday night, 2 people died in a devastating head-on crash on Interstate 5 and County Road 68.

The incident happened at about 9:18 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5, south of County Road 68 in the #1 lane.

Authorities report that a Dodge pickup truck drove into the median for unknown reasons, over-corrected to the right, and then back to the left.

The pickup crossed through the median into the #1 lane of southbound Interstate 5, colliding head-on with a 2006 Ford vehicle carrying three occupants.

After the collision, the pickup came to rest within the southbound lanes, while the Ford left the roadway and stopped on the shoulder west of the highway.

Authorities state that one male and one female were extricated from the crash and flown via air ambulance to Enloe Health with major injuries.

Two individuals, one man and one woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the severity of the injuries, officers were unable to obtain statements from those involved.

The California Highway Patrol determined that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
