MADERA COUNTY, CA (January 1, 2025) – Wednesday morning, two people died in a horrific big rig crash on Avenue 13 and Road 23.

The incident involving a big rig and an SUV happened at about 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue 13 and Road 23.

The California Highway Patrol reported that an SUV carrying four occupants crashed into a big rig at an intersection. The impact threw the occupants from the vehicle, killing two of them.

A fifth occupant sustained serious injuries but remained inside the SUV because a seat belt was in use, according to officers. Authorities continued to investigate the crash.
