Police Investigate Crash on Euclid Avenue in East Palo Alto

EAST PALO ALTO, CA (September 9, 2026) – Two pedestrians were injured in a hit-and-run crash on Euclid Avenue on Monday afternoon, according to police.

The incident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. on September 7 near East Bayshore Road and Euclid Avenue.

Surveillance video shared online reportedly shows a white Chevrolet Silverado turning from East Bayshore Road onto Euclid Avenue.

The truck appears to maneuver around a vehicle parked in a red zone before striking a food stand.

The truck then backed up and sped away from the area.

Police have not released the identities of the two injured pedestrians or information about the severity of their injuries.

Neighbors told local media that the damaged food stand had sold pupusas in the neighborhood for several years and was a familiar fixture in the area.

East Palo Alto police said a witness provided investigators with a photograph of the truck and its license plate. Officers then used license plate reader cameras to track the vehicle’s direction of travel.

Fremont police later stopped the truck on Interstate 880.

According to police, the registered owner denied being the driver involved in the crash. Authorities arrested that person on an unrelated weapons charge. Police are still working to determine who was driving the pickup at the time of the collision.

East Palo Alto police are asking anyone with additional information about the crash to contact investigators.

The collision has also drawn attention to parking enforcement near the intersection. City parking enforcement officers were seen warning motorists against parking in the red zone at the location after the crash.

One parking enforcement officer noted that the corner is both a red zone and a blind turn. City officials indicated they were increasing enforcement in the area, which could include citations or towing for vehicles parked illegally.

The hit-and-run investigation remains ongoing.

Injured people may need emergency treatment, follow-up care, rehabilitation, and time away from work, all while police continue trying to identify the driver involved.

Hit-and-run investigations often rely on many different types of evidence.

Surveillance footage, witness statements, photographs, license plate information, traffic cameras, vehicle damage, and electronic records can all help authorities reconstruct what happened and identify the person responsible.

When a collision occurs near a blind turn, red zone, or roadside business, investigators may also consider visibility, roadway design, illegally parked vehicles, speed, driver behavior, and the movement of pedestrians before the crash.

These details can become important in understanding the circumstances of the incident.

For injured pedestrians, preserving records may be helpful. Medical bills, photographs of injuries, police reports, witness information, insurance communications, and documentation of lost income can help show how the crash affected a person’s health and daily life.
