2 People Dead in SR 22 Vehicle Collision [Yakima, WA]

Yakima, WA (April 8, 2026) – A 60-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, both from Mabton, were killed in a SR 22 vehicle collision Sunday night.

The deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on April 5 in Mabton.

According to the investigators, an eastbound vehicle attempted to turn left but failed to yield the right of way to a westbound vehicle. 

The 60-year-old Mabton man and a 48-year-old Mabton man were riding the eastbound car. They were both declared deceased at the crash scene.

Meanwhile, the westbound car’s driver, a 32-year-old man, also from Mabton, was taken to an area hospital.

WSP determined that drugs or alcohol were factors in the deadly crash, and charges on the westbound car’s driver are pending.
