BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 30, 2026)— A semi-truck overturned Thursday morning in a crash on Bear Mountain Boulevard near General Beale Road, prompting officials to close the roadway for several hours.

The crash happened around 8:10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. 

CHP said the semi-truck, which was pulling a trailer full of lettuce, traveled eastbound on Bear Mountain Boulevard when it left the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder.

Investigators said the driver tried to steer the truck back onto the roadway but overcorrected. The maneuver caused the semi-truck and trailer to overturn onto its side.

Two people reported pain after the crash, but both declined medical transport.

CHP said the crash did not cause any fuel or cargo spills.

Caltrans estimated that the closure of Bear Mountain Boulevard would last about three hours while crews cleared the overturned truck and inspected the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
