1 Dead in Woodland Hills Auto Accident near Valley Circle Boulevard and 101 Freeway

WOODLAND HILLS, CA (April 23, 2026) – Early Wednesday morning, a person died in a brutal 2-vehicle crash near Valley Circle Boulevard and 101 Freeway.

The incident involving two vehicles happened just before 1:30 a.m. near Valley Circle Boulevard, on a stretch of the 101 that runs east-west through the San Fernando Valley

The crash led officials to shut down all freeway lanes as emergency crews responded. One person was trapped inside a vehicle, and firefighters had to remove the roof to reach the patient.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed one person was killed. Another was taken to a hospital, but their condition has not been released.

Authorities have not identified those involved. A SigAlert remained in place for about four hours before the freeway reopened around 5:30 a.m.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
