Woman Suffers Moderate Injuries in Highway 101 Crash Near Los Alamos
Santa Barbara County, CA (March 14, 2026) — On Wednesday morning, a woman driving a Volkswagen sedan suffered moderate injuries after a crash on Highway 101 involving a big-rig truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 7 a.m. along northbound Highway 101 at Palmer Road.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided medical assistance before transporting the injured driver by ambulance to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria for treatment.
Officials noted that heavy fog in the area may have played a role in the crash. The truck driver was not injured.
The collision temporarily shut down northbound lanes of Highway 101 while crews cleared the scene. Authorities reopened the roadway at about 8:15 a.m.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Let’s Drive Safer Together
High-speed crashes can occur in the blink of an eye, but so many are preventable with small, intelligent decisions. Pay attention, don’t get distracted (say, by texting) and never drive after drinking. As ever – obey speed limits, buckle up and keep plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles. These are small enough measures to save lives — including your own.
We can all take steps to help keep our roads safe for ourselves, our families and our communities.
Foggy conditions can significantly reduce visibility and increase the risk of serious collisions. Drivers should slow down, maintain safe following distances, and use headlights appropriately when traveling through areas with limited visibility.
