Overturned Semi Causes Hazmat Response After Crash With Disabled Tesla in Moreno Valley
Moreno Valley, CA (May 8, 2025) — On Tuesday morning, a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 60 involving an overturned semi truck and a disabled Tesla caused major delays and a hazmat response.
According to authorities, the frightening crash happened on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Frederick Street in Moreno Valley.
Emergency crews arrived around 9:56 a.m. and found the semi overturned alongside a Tesla with severe damage on the driver’s side.
Investigators said the Tesla had stopped on the right shoulder because of a flat tire when the semi truck sideswiped the vehicle and overturned for reasons still under investigation.
Paramedics transported the Tesla driver to a hospital with injuries that authorities have not yet disclosed. The semi truck driver was not hurt in the collision.
Officials said the overturned truck leaked diesel fuel, oil, and paint cargo onto the roadway, prompting hazardous materials crews to respond. Several lanes remained closed while crews cleaned the spill and removed the wreckage.
The crash remains under investigation.
When you’re behind the wheel, remember—you’re not alone out there. Every time you drive, you’re part of a community that shares the road. That’s why it’s so important to stay alert, drive responsibly, and respect others. Safe driving doesn’t just protect you; it keeps your loved ones, neighbors, and even total strangers safe too.
If we all do our part—slow down, stay focused, and avoid distractions—we can make the roads safer for everyone.
And don’t forget the simplest safety tip of all: always buckle up. Whether you’re the driver or a passenger, wearing your seatbelt is one of the easiest and most effective ways to prevent serious injury in a crash. Sweet Lawyers encourages everyone to make it a habit—every trip, every time.
Disabled vehicles parked on freeway shoulders can create dangerous situations for both drivers and emergency crews. Motorists should reduce speed, stay alert near stopped vehicles, and move over whenever possible to help prevent serious crashes.
