Tanker Truck and Sedan Crash Closes Lanes on 14 Freeway in Agua Dulce
Los Angeles County, CA (August 15, 2026) — Early Friday, a 2-vehicle crash on SR 14 involving a tanker truck carrying up to 85,000 pounds of fuel collided with a sedan in the Agua Dulce area of Los Angeles County.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash around 3:19 a.m. on the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway south of Escondido Canyon Road. The sedan stopped against the tanker, which suffered a damaged rear axle. The collision also spilled oil across three northbound lanes.
Both drivers escaped their vehicles and reached the right shoulder. At least one person suffered injuries but declined transportation to a hospital.
Crews used absorbent material to clean up an oil slick stretching about 100 feet across the roadway. The CHP issued a SigAlert and closed three northbound lanes for several hours while crews removed the vehicles and cleared the spill.
Authorities reopened all lanes by 9:48 a.m.
Driving defensively is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of accidents. Staying alert, keeping a safe following distance, and always expecting the unexpected can help protect you and everyone around you. Avoid distractions like texting, follow posted speed limits, use your turn signals, and stay watchful for pedestrians and cyclists. A cautious, proactive approach behind the wheel keeps roads safer for all.
Even familiar roads can become dangerous when traffic patterns, weather, or visibility change. Slowing down and staying focused can prevent serious injuries and save lives on roadways. Driving smart and staying aware make a real difference.
Even when injuries appear minor, crash victims should consider getting medical attention and documenting the incident. If you were injured in a traffic collision, understanding your legal rights can help protect you while you recover.
