Police Investigate Collision on Lincoln Drive in Scottsdale
Scottsdale, AZ (August 22, 2025) – Two workers were trapped after a collision on Lincoln Drive.
Emergency crews rescued two workers early Friday morning after a box truck sideswiped a City of Scottsdale boom lift, leaving them stranded about 15 feet in the air.
The collision occurred around 6 a.m. near Lincoln Drive and Scottsdale Road, where the two workers were elevated in the lift performing street light maintenance.
According to Scottsdale Fire Captain Dave Folio, the box truck struck the bucket truck while it was in use, triggering emergency safety protocols.
“When the box truck hit the lift, the vehicle automatically locked out and stopped moving—up or down. The emergency controls were activated,” Capt. Folio explained.
Firefighters responded quickly, bringing in a Phoenix Fire ladder truck to reach the trapped workers. Crews secured both men in the rescue bucket and safely brought them down.
One of the workers complained of back pain, prompting medics to immobilize him on a backboard as a precaution. “When someone reports back pain, it’s essential we stabilize them immediately to prevent further injury,” Folio added.
Arizona’s Family news chopper captured footage of both men being carefully wheeled into waiting ambulances.
The full extent of their injuries remains unknown at this time.
The incident is under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether any citations or charges will follow.
