3 Children Airlifted in Highway 152 Overturned Crash [Merced County, CA]

Merced County, CA (June 8, 2025) – Three children, ages 5 to 10, were injured following a Highway 152 overturned crash Friday night.

It was around 8:30 p.m. when the solo-vehicle crash happened on the eastbound lanes of Highway 152, near Interstate 5.

Officers said the vehicle was traveling east on the freeway and attempting to take the northbound I-5 connector ramp. However, the vehicle was unable to negotiate the curve in the ramp and it overturned into a dirt embankment. 

The driver sustained major injuries and the passenger had moderate injuries.

The three children were not wearing a seat belt and two of them were possibly thrown from the vehicle. They were airlifted to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera.

Investigators said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the collision.
