Driver Arrested After Crash on Brittmore and Other Felony Warrants
Houston, TX (September 25, 2025) – Three deputies sustained minor injuries in a crash on Brittmore.
A chaotic police chase through west Houston ended Thursday afternoon with a box truck crash, gunfire, and the arrest of the driver, according to Houston police.
The incident began at about 4:10 p.m. when a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy stopped a box truck near Brittmore and the Katy Freeway.
A license plate camera had flagged the vehicle for repeatedly using the toll road without paying.
When the deputy checked the driver’s ID, he discovered multiple felony warrants. As the deputy tried to detain him, the driver sped off, sparking a pursuit.
The chase came to a dramatic end on Trail Hollow Drive near Memorial, where the box truck crashed into an apartment complex.
Along the way, the driver rammed several patrol cars, nearly striking deputies. One deputy fired multiple shots as his vehicle was pushed toward him, according to Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department.
The suspect was not hit by gunfire, but three deputies sustained minor injuries during the collisions.
The driver fled on foot through the apartment complex, broke into a tenant’s unit, and cut his wrist with a knife taken from inside the home before being arrested.
Emergency crews transported the suspect and injured deputies to the hospital.
Authorities confirmed the suspect has an extensive criminal history and at least two active felony warrants.
The Houston Police Department’s homicide division is investigating the deputy-involved shooting, while other agencies review the sequence of events.
