3 People Hospitalized after Crippling Multi-Vehicle Crash on US 36 and NE Litton Road [Caldwell County, MO]

Injuries Reported in Caldwell County Multi-Vehicle Accident on US 36 and NE Litton Road

CALDWELL COUNTY, MO (November 20, 2025) – Monday night, a crippling multi-vehicle crash on US 36 and NE Litton Road sent 3 people to the hospital.

The incident happened at 6:00 p.m. on US 36 and NE Litton Road, east of Chillicothe.

Troopers said a Chevrolet Silverado was stopped in the crossover between the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 36 before pulling out and heading north toward NE Litton Road. A westbound Chrysler Town and Country van was unable to stop in time and struck the Silverado’s right side, sending both vehicles off the roadway.

According to MSHP, the van went airborne before hitting the ground and coming to rest facing north. The Silverado overturned and landed on its roof, facing south.

The 74-year-old man driving the Chrysler and his 67-year-old passenger both suffered serious injuries. He was flown to Truman Medical Center, and she was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital. The Silverado’s 63-year-old driver was also seriously hurt and was taken by Livingston County ambulance to Liberty Hospital.

MSHP noted that everyone involved had been wearing seatbelts, and both vehicles were totaled.
