Police Investigate Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 79 in Leon County

LEON COUNTY, TX (June 5, 2026)— Three people were injured Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 79 between Oakwood and Buffalo.

According to Sgt. Justin Ruiz with the Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened sometime between 6 a.m. and 6:10 a.m.

DPS said a 2023 Dodge ProMaster van was traveling west on Highway 79 while a 2018 Ford F-350 was traveling east.

Investigators said the Dodge driver attempted to pass in a no-passing zone and struck the Ford. The front left side of the Dodge hit the front left side of the Ford.

Emergency responders transported the Dodge driver to Palestine Regional Medical Center with suspected critical injuries.

Two people were inside the Ford. The driver and passenger were also transported to Palestine Regional Medical Center with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

DPS troopers have cleared the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
