Van Driver Critical After T-Bone Crash on Fondren Road in Houston

Houston, TX (April 10, 2026) – A crash on Fondren Road involving a Harris County Precinct 5 deputy sent three people to the hospital early Friday morning in southwest Houston.

Investigators said the collision happened around 3:30 a.m. near Fondren Road and Bissonnet Street, just south of the Southwest Freeway.

According to authorities, the deputy was driving westbound in the 7200 block of Bissonnet when dash camera footage showed the deputy entered the intersection with a green light.

A van traveling southbound then entered the intersection, and the deputy’s vehicle struck the side of the van.

Police said the impact caused the van to roll over. Emergency crews transported three people to the hospital.

Authorities reported that the deputy suffered major head injuries but is expected to survive.

The driver of the van remained in critical condition.

A female passenger in the van also went to the hospital with what investigators described as minor injuries, and authorities said she may be pregnant.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash.

They are examining whether speed or possible intoxication played a role.

Officials expect the intersection to remain closed for several hours while crews continue their investigation, and drivers are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
