Police Investigate Crash on Highway 18 in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA (May 29, 2026) — Three people suffered major injuries Friday morning in a crash on Highway 18 after a vehicle crossed into opposing traffic.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, the crash happened around 11:12 a.m. on May 29, 2026, on Highway 18 between Apple Valley Road and Stoddard Wells Road.
Investigators said a silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was traveling eastbound on State Highway 18 when it crossed into the westbound lanes. Witnesses reported that the vehicle entered oncoming traffic and nearly struck multiple vehicles before leaving the roadway.
The Pontiac then went off the north side of Highway 18 and crashed into large boulders.
Deputies responded to the scene and temporarily shut down westbound Highway 18 while investigators documented the crash area and crews removed the damaged vehicle. Witnesses saw deputies taking photographs and measurements in the roadway as part of the investigation.
Emergency responders transported all three occupants of the Pontiac to a local hospital with major injuries.
Authorities have not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
The Apple Valley Police Department continues to investigate the collision.
