3 Transported in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-5 [Lacey, WA]

Lacey, WA (December 6, 2025) – Three people were transported following a multi-vehicle crash on I-5 Thursday morning.

It was around 7:29 a.m. when the collision happened on the northbound freeway at milepost 109.1 near Martin Way East. 

WSP officers said a big rig, a school bus, and an unknown number of other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Investigators said the semi truck driver was following the school bus too close, and when the driver tried to avoid rear-ending the bus, the truck big rig instead.

According to the authorities, the big rig carrying several vehicles jackknifed and blocked all northbound lanes. 

Three people sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, while there were no children on the school bus during the accident.

Police arrested the big rig’s driver for driving a commercial vehicle without having a valid Commercial Driver’s License.
