GRAND COUNTY, CO (August 4, 2026) – Sunday afternoon, a disastrous three-vehicle crash on Highway 9 near Mile Post 131 led to injuries.

The incident happened on Highway 9 near Mile Post 131.

According to reports, a southbound Mercedes S550 attempting to pass another vehicle struck a northbound Nissan Pathfinder and collided head-on with a northbound Ram ProMaster.

Moreover, officers said that the 28-year-old male driver of the Mercedes self-transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. Then, authorities said that a 15-year-old male and a 9-year-old male, both passengers of the Mercedes, sustained injuries in the crash and received medical treatment.

Furthermore, responders airlifted a female passenger of the ProMaster to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Then, paramedics rushed the 52-year-old female driver of the ProMaster and her second passenger, a 51-year-old male, to a hospital with serious injuries.

Also, authorities confirmed that the 57-year-old male driver of the Pathfinder and his 54-year-old female passenger were checked at a hospital and were later released.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Colorado State Patrol continued its investigation into the crash.
