Suspect Injured after Napa Auto Accident on Highway 24 near Lafayette

NAPA, CA (August 6, 2025) – Sunday afternoon, a disastrous DUI crash on Highway 24 near Lafayette led to the arrest of a 32-year-old woman.

The incident happened at around 3:45 p.m. on Highway 24 near Lafayette.

Several people reported a reckless driver speeding and using the center divide to pass other vehicles. A CHP officer attempted a traffic stop, but the driver didn’t yield. The pursuit was quickly called off after reports indicated there might be children in the car.

Not long after, the vehicle crashed into the center divider wall on Highway 24 near Central Lafayette. CHP confirmed the car wasn’t being pursued at the time of the crash.

A CHP helicopter flew the 32-year-old driver from Newark to the hospital with moderate injuries. The four children in the car appeared uninjured but were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The driver was later arrested on suspicion of DUI, child endangerment, and reckless evading.
