Teen Arrested for DUI After Crash on North Milpas Street Injures Four, Including Juvenile

Santa Barbara, CA (October 13, 2025) – An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a violent single-vehicle crash on North Milpas Street early Sunday morning that left four people injured, including a juvenile.

At approximately 12:35 a.m., officers from the Santa Barbara Police Department and firefighters responded to a crash near the intersection of North Milpas and Anapamu Streets, just outside the Santa Barbara Bowl.

According to investigators, the driver of a white Audi sedan was traveling eastbound on Anapamu when he failed to navigate a sharp 90-degree turn onto Milpas Street.

The car slammed into a tree, causing injuries to all four occupants.

The driver, Sebastian Escamilla Lopez, and his three passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. All were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

Police arrested Lopez on suspicion of DUI and felony child endangerment, as one of the passengers was reportedly a juvenile.

He will be booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail upon his release from the hospital, according to Lt. Ryan DeJohn.

Authorities have not yet released the names or medical conditions of the injured passengers.

The crash remains under investigation.
