Injuries Reported in San Diego Vehicle Crash on Interstate 15 and State Route 78

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 4, 2025) – Saturday night, a fiery auto accident on Interstate 15 and State Route 78 injured 4.

The incident happened at about 6:26 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 15 on-ramp to eastbound State Route 78.

CHP stated that the driver of an SUV had been speeding at over 100 mph when they veered across the area between the main road and the SR-78 on-ramp, striking a Jeep. The impact caused the Jeep to roll over and catch fire.

A good Samaritan pulled two people from the burning Jeep. They were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The SUV’s driver and a child passenger were also hospitalized with minor injuries, and a police officer accompanied the driver.

After receiving treatment, the SUV driver was arrested for felony DUI and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
