4 Dead in Walker County Auto Accident on Highway 30 near Shiro and Huntsville

WALKER COUNTY, TX (May 18, 2026) – Saturday night, 4 people died in a horrific fiery crash on Highway 30 near Shiro and Huntsville.



The incident occurred at around 11:40 p.m. on Highway 30, between Shiro and Huntsville.

According to investigators, a 2019 Jeep Wrangler was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a westbound 2019 Buick SUV. Authorities said the impact caused the Buick to burst into flames.

Police said the driver of the Jeep, a 23-year-old man from Huntsville, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Buick was driven by a 21-year-old man from Rockdale. He, along with a 21-year-old woman from Leander and her 10-year-old step-sibling, who were passengers in the SUV, were also pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and the identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
