4 Teens Killed in Tragic Vehicle Crash on San Geronimo Valley Road [Marin County, CA]

Marin County, CA (April 19, 2025) – A tragic vehicle crash on San Geronimo Valley Road Friday evening claimed the lives of four teenagers and left two others critically injured.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal accident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. west of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.

Reports say that a Volkswagen Tiguan struck a tree and burst into flames on San Geronimo Valley Road.

Authorities say that the SUV carried six teens, all between 14 and 16 years old. The vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons and collided with a tree.

The impact caused the SUV to catch fire. Good Samaritans at the scene attempted to rescue the trapped occupants from the burning vehicle.

Three of the teens died at the scene, and a fourth passed away at a nearby hospital. Emergency responders transported the driver and one other passenger to a local medical facility, where they remain in critical condition.

The Tamalpais Union High School District is coordinating with the county to provide grief counseling and emotional support to students and staff at Archie Williams High School. Officials urge the community to avoid sharing unverified information to respect the families and ongoing investigation.

CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash and has not released further details at this time.
