4 People Identified After Truck Crash on South 48th Way in Yuma

Yuma, AZ (January 9, 2025) – Four men died in a crash on South 48th Way.

Authorities have identified the four men who lost their lives after their truck crashed into a Yuma home earlier this week. 

On Friday, Yuma police named the victims as 19-year-old Levander Smith, 20-year-old Jovan Orozco, 20-year-old Luis Gamez, and 22-year-old Adrian Palacio.

The crash occurred around 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday when officers responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a house near the 2800 block of South 48th Way, close to 28th Street and Avenue D. 

According to police, Smith was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on Avenue D when he veered off the road, smashed through a brick wall, and struck a nearby home.

Smith, Orozco, Gamez, and Palacio were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other passengers, an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital, where they are expected to recover.

The crash also impacted the home’s occupants, with three individuals inside at the time. A 37-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators have indicated that speeding and alcohol likely contributed to the crash, though the investigation remains ongoing.
