4 Teenagers Injured in Route W Solo-Vehicle Crash [Butler County, MO]

Injuries Reported in Traffic Crash north of Poplar Bluff

Butler County, MO (May 3, 2026) – A teen driver and her teen passengers were hurt following a Route W solo-vehicle crash Thursday evening.

The traffic accident happened around 5:30 p.m., around 2 miles north of Poplar Bluff.

Officers said a northbound SUV driven by a 17-year-old girl went off the right side of the road, overturned, and struck a tree.

Rescuers rushed the driver and two of her passengers, a 13 and a 14-year-old girl, to a Poplar Bluff hospital with moderate injuries.

Moreover, another passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was also taken to the same hospital in serious condition.

According to the authorities, all of the SUV occupants were not wearing their seatbelts.

Even when you are driving at the speed limit, driving too fast for road conditions, such as during bad weather, in areas that are not well lit at night, or on a road under repair, can affect your safety.

Speeding endangers not only the driver, but all the people on the road around them. It is a problem we all need to solve.
