49-Year-Old Ukiah Woman Killed in 3-Car Accident on Highway 20 [Ukiah, CA]

Ukiah, CA (March 29, 2022) On Monday, a 49-year-old woman from Ukiah was killed in a 3-car accident on Highway 20.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says the fatal 3-vehicle crash happened around 5:28 p.m. east of Potter Valley near the Buffalo Ranch.

Officials say that there were 3 vehicles involved in the crash. A blue Mini Cooper, a black Ford SUV, and a blue Toyota Tacoma, and the collision required extrication.

Reports say that it was raining during the incident and the road was wet.

According to witnesses, the mini Cooper lost control due to the wet roadway, collided with the Toyota causing it to spin out of control.

Meanwhile, the mini Cooper, still spinning, collided with the back of the Ford.

Rafael Esquivel driving the Mini Cooper and Kurt Jensen on the Ford both sustained injuries due to the crash, Michael Schmuckley on the Tacoma was not hurt.

Several motorists stopped to help and free the victims inside the mini Cooper, the female passenger was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are investigating the collision and they do not believe impairment played a factor in the crash.
