Injuries Reported in Butler County Auto Accident on MO 53 near Poplar Bluff

BUTLER COUNTY, MO (September 9, 2026) – Monday night, a disastrous 2-vehicle crash on MO 53 near Poplar Bluff.

The incident involving two vehicles occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on MO 53, around 2 miles south of Poplar Bluff.

Six people were injured, including a 6-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries, after a crash involving a car and pickup truck in southeast Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

MSHP said a southbound car driven by a 25-year-old Qulin woman failed to yield to a southbound pickup.

The woman, a 26-year-old man, and two 6-year-old boys, all from Qulin, were injured. One of the boys was flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries. The other three occupants were taken by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital with minor injuries.

The pickup driver, a 44-year-old Poplar Bluff man, was not injured. His 6-year-old male passenger was taken to a Poplar Bluff hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash, according to MSHP.
