MORGAN COUNTY, MO (May 13, 2026)— Six people, including four young children, suffered serious injuries Wednesday after a vehicle struck a horse and buggy in a crash on Route C.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on Route C, east of Gracey Creek Road.

Troopers said the horse and buggy carried six people and was traveling westbound on Route C when a silver Chevrolet Trax struck it. A 22-year-old Versailles woman was driving the SUV.

All six occupants of the horse and buggy suffered serious injuries. Emergency responders transported them by ambulance to University Hospital.

The injured victims included a baby girl under 1 year old, a 3-year-old boy, a 5-year-old boy, a 6-year-old girl, a 28-year-old man, and a 29-year-old woman. All six are from Versailles. The crash report listed the 28-year-old man as the buggy’s driver.

The SUV driver suffered minor injuries and went to an urgent care facility in a private vehicle.

Authorities said the Chevrolet Trax was totaled, and the buggy was destroyed. Officials did not disclose the condition of the horse.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

Compassionate Legal Support After a Serious Horse-and-Buggy Crash

A crash involving a vehicle and a horse-drawn buggy can cause devastating injuries, especially when young children are involved.

Families may suddenly face emergency medical care, hospital stays, emotional trauma, transportation challenges, and overwhelming uncertainty about the future.

When several children and adults suffer serious injuries in the same collision, the impact can affect an entire family and community.

At Sweet Lawyers, we understand how frightening and painful the aftermath of a serious crash can be. Collisions involving buggies, bicycles, pedestrians, and other vulnerable road users often require careful investigation because the occupants have limited protection from the force of a motor vehicle.

Important questions may involve driver awareness, speed, visibility, roadway conditions, passing distance, lighting, and whether the crash could have been prevented.

Our team helps injured victims and their families understand their rights after severe accidents. We assist with reviewing crash reports, gathering evidence, communicating with insurance companies, and identifying possible sources of compensation.

Evidence may include the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, witness statements, roadway markings, vehicle damage, buggy damage, photographs, medical records, and any available surveillance or dash camera footage.

Serious injuries to children can require long-term care, follow-up appointments, therapy, and ongoing support. Families should not feel pressured by insurance companies before the full extent of the injuries is known.

A personal injury claim may help pursue compensation for medical expenses, future care needs, pain and suffering, rehabilitation, lost income, and other damages related to the crash.

Sweet Lawyers approaches every case with compassion, professionalism, and dedication. We know injured families need clear communication, steady guidance, and advocates who treat their situation with urgency and care.

If you or someone you love suffered injuries in a vehicle collision, contact Sweet Lawyers for a free consultation.
