Several People Hospitalized After High-Speed Crash on Interstate 35 in Laredo

LAREDO, TX (October 1, 2025)— A high-speed police pursuit involving a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper ended in a crash on Interstate 35 on Wednesday afternoon, sending several individuals to the hospital.

The incident began around 3:45 p.m. when a DPS trooper attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Silverado traveling northbound on Mines Road near Fasken Boulevard. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.

As the driver sped onto Loop 20, they lost control of the vehicle near the I-35 frontage road. 

The Silverado collided with a gray Ford Expedition, resulting in significant damage.

According to DPS, the driver of the Silverado suffered serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. 

Authorities confirmed that three migrants, believed to have entered the country illegally, were passengers in the pickup. 

They were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and one passenger in the Ford Expedition were also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

DPS noted that charges are pending against the Silverado’s driver. 

A warrant will be issued once the individual is released from medical care.
