Pedestrian Killed in Springfield Traffic Crash

Springfield, MO (March 9, 2025) – 71-year-old Daniel Hyden was fatally hit by a vehicle on National Avenue Saturday night.

The fatal crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Latoka Street near Mercy Hospital.

Officers said Hyden was walking east to west on National Avenue with a walker when he was hit by a northbound Honda Accord driven by a 21-year-old man.

Immediately, Hyden was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, investigators said the driver did not show signs of impairment and that he cooperated with the authorities.
