8 People Hurt in Shocking Meramec River Boat Accident [Crawford County, MO]

Crawford County, MO (July 21, 2026) — Eight people suffered injuries Sunday afternoon after a Meramec River boat accident in Crawford County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 2 p.m. about two miles upstream from Campbell Bridge. A 34-year-old man was operating the boat with four children and three other adults on board.

Investigators said the boat hit a submerged rock, drifted off course, and then collided with a rocky bluff.

All four children, ages 3 to 12, were wearing life jackets and sustained minor injuries. Emergency responders transported them to a hospital for treatment.

None of the four adults were wearing life jackets. The driver suffered minor injuries, two male passengers sustained moderate injuries, and one female passenger suffered serious injuries. All four adults were also hospitalized.

Authorities continue to investigate the boating crash.
