8-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 Results in Injuries [Tukwila, WA]

Tukwila, WA (June 29, 2025) – A 20-year-old King County man caused an 8-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 that left people hurt.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the multi-vehicle crash happened around 9:50 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5 near Tukwila.

Reports say that the eight-vehicle pileup, shut down northbound I-5 for five hours. WSP reported that six people sustained injuries, with one man transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Authorities say that the Algona man, driving at a high rate of speed, initially crashed into an 18-year-old Tacoma driver, triggering the chain reaction. The extensive wreck ultimately involved five cars and three motorcycles. Although two Pierce County residents were involved, they avoided serious injury.

Responders treated four of the six injured individuals at the scene. They transported the Algona man to Valley Medical Center in Renton. Troopers plan to charge him with “disregard for the safety of others.” A 68-year-old Kent motorcyclist went to Harborview. The crash also involved drivers or passengers from Redmond, Des Moines, Lake Tapps, Ravensdale, and Port Orchard.
