Police Investigate Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 60 in Newton County
Newton County, MO (August 5, 2025) – A 95-year-old woman died in a head-on crash on Highway 60.
Just before 9 p.m. Monday, reports of a serious crash that halted all traffic on US-60 near Goldfinch Road prompted E-911 to dispatch emergency responders.
Neosho Rural Fire, Newton County Deputies, and Newton County Ambulance responded to the scene.
Seneca Rural Fire provided mutual aid, and MoDOT Emergency Response received notification.
First responders determined that a fatal head-on collision had claimed the life of a 95-year-old Cassville, Missouri, woman.
She had been driving a 2011 Ford Focus east on US-60 when, according to Cpl. G. Hendrix of Troop D, she crossed the center line and struck a 2011 Dodge 3500 pickup head-on.
The Dodge’s driver, a 34-year-old man from Neosho, Missouri, had been traveling west.
The crash shut down all eastbound and westbound traffic on US-60 for nearly three hours.
MoDOT Emergency Response set up a detour on the east side at Gazelle, while Ron’s Towing removed both vehicles and cleared debris from the roadway.
Newton County Coroner Dale Owen pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
