Abril Farfan Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Crash on Bear Valley Road [Apple Valley, CA]

Apple Valley, CA (July 6, 2026) — 23-year-old Abril Farfan was killed, and a motorcyclist suffered critical injuries after their motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Apple Valley on the night of July 4.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 9:56 p.m. on Bear Valley Road, west of Iroquois Road. Investigators said 30-year-old Gary Copas of Victorville was riding an eastbound Yamaha R7 with 23-year-old passenger Abril Farfan when a Nissan Titan entered Bear Valley Road and cut into the motorcycle’s lane. The motorcycle then struck the rear of the pickup.

The impact threw both riders from the motorcycle. Farfan sustained severe injuries and later died at a hospital. Copas was also seriously injured and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The pickup driver, 29-year-old Jesus Blancas of Apple Valley, and his pregnant passenger were not injured. Authorities said Blancas cooperated with investigators, and impairment is not believed to have contributed to the collision.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the crash.
