24-Year-Old Man Injured in Scooter Accident at the Golden Valley High School Parking Lot [Merced, CA]

Merced, CA (December 7, 2024) – A 24-year-old man was injured in a scooter accident at the Golden Valley High School parking lot late Saturday afternoon.

It was around 5 p.m. on November 30 when a Merced Police Department patrol unit was exiting the school’s parking lot and collided with the man on a scooter that was traveling south on the sidewalk along Parsons Avenue.

The accident report states that the right front fender of the patrol vehicle has struck the scooter.

Immediately, an ambulance transported the pedestrian to Mercy Medical Center for a complaint of pain in the knee. 

According to the authorities, the police officer did not appear to be responding to a call when the collision happened and the vehicle’s emergency lights and siren had not been activated. 

Moreover, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the accident.
