Female Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle on San Antonio’s West Side
San Antonio, TX (March 26, 2026) — A 74-year-old woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a pedestrian accident on General McMullen in San Antonio.
The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. on March 24 along the 900 block of South General McMullen. The woman had just left a nearby grocery store when a southbound vehicle hit her as she made her way across the roadway.
The impact pinned her beneath the vehicle, leaving her with severe internal injuries and a broken wrist. Emergency responders rushed her to a local hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities continue to review witness accounts and nearby surveillance footage to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash. No charges are expected at this time.
Stop Pedestrian Accidents
To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.
Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.
Pedestrian accidents can have devastating consequences, especially for older adults. Drivers should remain vigilant, obey traffic signals, and watch for pedestrians at all times. Pedestrians are also encouraged to use crosswalks and stay aware of traffic conditions before crossing streets.
What Happens After a Traffic Collision?
The aftermath of a traffic accident can feel overwhelming. Between medical appointments, time away from work, insurance calls, and mounting bills, pursuing compensation on your own can be stressful and time-consuming.
That’s why one of the most important steps you can take after a crash is speaking with a personal injury attorney. Having legal guidance can significantly ease the burden. An experienced attorney understands how to investigate the accident, collect evidence, handle insurance companies, and protect your rights throughout the claims process.
Without legal support, many people find the process confusing and frustrating—and some end up receiving far less compensation than they deserve, or none at all. You shouldn’t have to suffer additional hardship because of someone else’s negligence.
At Sweet Lawyers, our seasoned attorneys handle the legal complexities so you can focus on healing and moving forward. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means there’s no upfront cost—you don’t pay unless we win your case. We also offer free consultations, giving you the chance to understand your options with no pressure.
