24-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured in Crash on I-270 Ramp in St. Louis County
St. Louis County, MO (May 6, 2025) — A 24-year-old man suffered serious injuries Sunday evening after a pedestrian accident on Interstate 270 in St. Louis County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. on the ramp connecting St. Charles Rock Road to I-270. A Chevrolet Trax was involved in the crash.
Investigators said the pedestrian entered the roadway on the ramp before the vehicle hit him. Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Chevrolet was not hurt in the incident. Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Stop Pedestrian Accidents
To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.
Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.
Pedestrians should avoid entering active roadways, especially highway ramps where visibility is limited and vehicles travel at higher speeds. Drivers are also urged to stay alert, reduce speed in dimly lit areas, and watch for unexpected hazards to help prevent serious accidents.
Life After a Traffic Accident: What You Should Know
A traffic accident doesn’t truly end when the vehicles are removed from the scene. For many victims, the real impact begins afterward. Physical injuries, emotional distress, and financial burdens can linger long after the crash, making recovery challenging and overwhelming.
Car accident injuries range from minor cuts and bruises to serious conditions like broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries. Even injuries that seem small at first can develop into long-term health issues. Beyond the physical pain, many people experience anxiety, stress, sleep disturbances, and post-traumatic stress. At the same time, medical bills pile up and missed work leads to lost income, creating additional financial strain.
If someone else’s negligence caused your accident, you may have the right to pursue compensation. This can include coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, pain and suffering, and future care needs. Understanding your rights is crucial to protecting your future.
