Pedestrian Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries After Downtown Austin Crash

Emergency responders were dispatched to the 600 block of North Interstate 35 shortly before midnight following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.

Medics treated the injured adult at the scene before transporting the victim to Dell Seton Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Stop Pedestrian Accidents

To help avoid pedestrian accidents, drivers and pedestrians alike should be increasingly vigilant and watch out for each other. Drivers have to make sure to slow down in crowded areas, watch for people crossing and not get distracted, like by texting.

Pedestrians should cross only where they are supposed to, heed the traffic lights and attempt to establish eye contact with drivers before they step off the curb. If you’re walking at night, wear something bright or reflective so you’re easier to see. Do not walk and use a phone, or wear headphones, on the road.

Pedestrians and drivers should remain vigilant, especially at night when visibility is reduced. Staying alert and following traffic laws can help prevent serious injuries on busy roadways.
