Adolfo Hernandez Salazar Arrested in Tragic Crash on I-19 [Nogales, AZ]

Wrong-Way Pursuit Crash on I-19 in Nogales Leaves Two Dead

Nogales, AZ (January 25, 2026) — On Thursday, 2 people were killed and several hurt after a wrong-way crash on I-19 that led to the arrest of Adolfo Hernandez Salazar.

According to authorities, a pursuit involving U.S. Border Patrol ended in a deadly wrong-way crash on Interstate 19 in Nogales, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials said Adolfo Hernandez Salazar attempted to flee from Border Patrol agents when he drove the wrong direction on Interstate 19 near kilometer marker 11 and struck another vehicle head-on. Two passengers in Salazar’s vehicle died, while a third suffered serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also sustained serious injuries.

After the crash, Salazar ran from the scene but officers quickly apprehended him nearby. Authorities treated him for non-life-threatening injuries before booking him into the Santa Cruz County Jail. He now faces two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and additional charges related to the incident.

Several agencies responded to the crash, which shut down Interstate 19 for hours before reopening early the following morning. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials will release the victims’ names after notifying their families.

When a Fatal Traffic Accident Changes Everything

Losing a loved one in a traffic accident is heartbreaking. The shock and grief can feel overwhelming, and for many families, the emotional pain is compounded by sudden financial and legal concerns. Medical bills, funeral expenses, and the loss of income can create stress at a time when families should be focused on healing.

In situations like these, a wrongful death claim may help provide both financial relief and a sense of accountability. While no legal action can ever replace a life, pursuing a claim can help families understand their rights and seek compensation for losses such as funeral costs, medical care, lost wages, and future financial support.

Holding the responsible party accountable is also an important part of the process. Whether a crash was caused by negligence, reckless behavior, or unsafe conditions, the legal system allows families to pursue justice and help prevent similar tragedies from happening to others.

For many, taking this step brings a measure of clarity and closure. It’s not about placing a value on a life—it’s about standing up for your loved one and protecting your family’s future.

You should not have to carry additional burdens because of someone else’s actions. Our experienced wrongful death and personal injury attorneys are here to support you with care, respect, and dedication.

At Sweet Lawyers, we handle the legal challenges so you can focus on what matters most—your family and your healing. We are committed to fighting for justice and fair compensation every step of the way.
