Driver Adrian Rodriguez Chavira Injured in Deadly Crash at the California Aqueduct [Fresno, CA]

Fresno, CA (February 19, 2025) – Adrian Rodriguez Chavira of Chula Vista was injured in a deadly crash at the California Aqueduct Sunday morning.

The fatal vehicle crash happened south of Highway 41 in Fresno County.

CHP said Adrian Rodriguez Chavira was driving a 2019 Honda Accord along Interstate 5 when he lost control of the vehicle.

The Honda veered off the freeway and into the water. The car crashed onto a concrete divider wall within the canal.

Chavira was able to exit the vehicle and swim. He incurred minor injuries.

However, his passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Tijuana, Mexico, was unable to escape the sinking vehicle.

A dive team recovered her body and rushed her to the Kings County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators said alcohol and/or drugs were not factors in this collision at this time.
