Bicyclist Ajuamungu Chubaka Dies After Tragic Crash on 51st Avenue in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (January 2, 2025) – A car struck and killed a 25-year-old man, Ajuamungu Chubaka, on New Year’s Day in west Phoenix.

Chubaka suffered fatal injuries while riding his bicycle Wednesday night near 51st Avenue and Baseline Road. According to Phoenix police, he was crossing Baseline Road mid-block when the collision occurred.

The driver remained at the scene, and police do not suspect impairment.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
