3 People Hurt in Dekalb County Auto Accident on Interstate 35 and Mile Marker 56.6

DEKALB COUNTY, MO (May 3, 2026) – Friday morning, an alarming 2-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 and Mile Marker 56.6 injured three people.

The incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Interstate 35 and Mile Marker 56.6.

According to reports, a southbound SUV rear-ended another SUV that was stopped due to traffic congestion ahead. Then, the force of the crash pushed the second SUV off the roadway and crashed into a roadside ditch.

Moreover, responders transported the 63-year-old male driver of the second SUV and his 73-year-old female passenger to Mosaic Life Care in St Joseph for treatment. Then, paramedics transported the 38-year-old female driver of the first SUV to Cameron Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Missouri State Highway Patrol continued investigating the crash.
