Injuries Reported in Tarzana Auto Accident on 101 Freeway and Tampa Avenue

TARZANA, CA (July 15, 2026) – Tuesday morning, an alarming big rig crash on 101 Freeway and Tampa Avenue led to lane closures.

The incident involving two big rigs happened at 4:10 a.m. on the northbound 101 Freeway, south of the Tampa Avenue off-ramp.

The impact caused the 53-foot-long tractor-trailer with a flatbed trailer to roll onto its side. The other semi-truck sustained front-end damage.

An officer at the scene reported that the overturned truck’s driver had exited the vehicle and appeared to have suffered only minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 4:27 a.m., closing all northbound lanes except the far-right lane while crews arranged for two heavy-duty tow trucks to remove the damaged rigs.

A second lane reopened around 6:30 a.m., with the remaining lanes reopening about two hours later.

The closure caused traffic backups extending past the Interstate 405 interchange, with delays of about an hour for northbound motorists.
