GARBERVILLE, CA (December 18, 2025) – Wednesday, an alarming box truck crash on Highway 101 near Mile Marker 10 injured 2 people.

The incident involving a white truck happened at about 1:04 p.m. on northbound Highway 101, just south of Garberville near Mile Marker 10.

A reporting party told dispatch they witnessed a box truck hit an embankment and come to rest on its side.

Initial information on the CHP site indicated there may have been two male occupants, though that was not immediately confirmed. CHP later confirmed that one person was trapped inside the vehicle, described as a 26,000-pound, two-axle box truck resting on its left side.

Garberville Fire, Redway Fire, Cal Fire, City Ambulance, Caltrans, and CHP responded to the scene. While Caltrans QuickMap did not show closures, drivers in the area may experience delays as emergency crews continue working.

Garberville Fire Protection Chief Tim Tietz confirmed there were two patients involved. One sustained major injuries, while the other was not injured.
