Injuries Reported in Albuquerque Pedestrian Accident on 86th Street and Central Avenue

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 24, 2025) – Friday night, a person sustained injuries in an alarming hit-and-run crash on 86th Street and Central Avenue injured 1 person.

The accident involving a vehicle versus pedestrian happened at about 9:35 p.m. on 86th Street and Central Avenue.

APD’s Southwest Area Command officers and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a crash involving a pedestrian on Central Avenue.

When crews arrived, they found a pedestrian with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle. Their condition has not been released. Police first believed the driver fled, but later said the driver may have returned.

Eastbound Central is closed between 90th and 86th streets, and northbound 86th at Bridge was also closed at the time of the crash. Westbound closures have not been confirmed, and road restrictions may change as the investigation continues.

Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
