TACOMA, WA (April 23, 2026) – Monday night, an alarming pedestrian crash on E 38th Street and Portland Avenue injured 1 person.

The incident happened at 6:25 p.m. on East 38th Street and Portland Avenue.

Authorities said the woman was in a crosswalk and had the right of way when she was struck. According to Tacoma Police Department spokesperson Shelbie Boyd, the female driver was allegedly running a red light at the time.

Police said the driver remained at the scene. The department’s DUI unit evaluated her and determined she was not impaired. She was cited and released for negligent driving and issued additional tickets.
