Injuries Reported in Albuquerque Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (September 7, 2026) – Thursday night, an alarming pedestrian crash on Interstate 40 sent 1 person to the hospital.

The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 40 off-ramp to Louisiana near Lomas.

Officers responded to the area around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a pedestrian may have been dragged by a vehicle, according to APD.

Police said they also received a report of a dispute between the pedestrian and people inside a vehicle. APD said the two incidents are related.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Several people were detained, but police did not provide additional details.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
