CHILLICOTHE, MO (October 27, 2025) – Saturday afternoon, a Festus resident sustained injuries in an alarming pedestrian crash on Walnut Street.

According to the state crash report, a 26-year-old man was leaving a business when he was struck by a vehicle that then crashed into the building. Investigators say the 90-year-old driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to accelerate.

The victim, a Festus resident, was seriously injured and taken to Hedrick Medical Center before being airlifted to Truman Medical Center for further treatment.
